On June 1, the 2025 Xiaomi China Endurance Championship (CEC) completed the opening match of the new season at Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit, and the newly created GTL category also made a perfect debut in Chengdu. In the final weekend, the RevX Racing team Wang Yimin/Zhang Yishang, who played at home, won the first round and won the historic first GTL1 group victory in the Toyota GR Supra car; YOUME team Lin Xinlin/Zhang Yue, who drove the "legendary god of war" Nissan GT-R car, won the championship in the second round with stable performance.

In the new season, CEC dares to try and innovate, creating a broader and more professional endurance competition platform for all participants in the new year. The new GTL group is a new group in the CEC China Automobile Endurance Championship GT Cup. It allows club teams to purchase supercars on their own and modify them according to the rules of the competition to meet the requirements of the competition rules before participating in the GT Cup. The cars in this group must be built based on mass-produced supercars. The modified vehicles must meet the specific requirements of the competition in terms of safety, performance balance and technical specifications to ensure the fairness and viewing experience of the competition.

In the Chengdu opening race, the GTL group was further divided into GTL1 and GTL2 groups. The GTL1 group attracted various high-performance famous models, including: Porsche 911, BMW M3, BMW M2, Toyota GR Supra, Nissan GT-R and other well-known popular models.

In the first round of the final competition, Wang Yimin/Zhang Yishang were forced to stop early due to the accident of loose engine hood at the beginning of the race and fell to the back of the car group, but the RevX Racing team maintained a strong speed in the subsequent events, completed an excellent pursuit, and finally successfully reversed the situation and won the first championship trophy since the establishment of the group.

The Nissan GT-R driven by Lin Xinlin and Zhang Yue performed outstandingly in the first half of the first round, and once ranked fourth in the whole field. Unfortunately, the car lost some time in the maintenance area, missed the opportunity to challenge the championship, and finished second in the group. There will be another round on Sunday. Affected by the previous rainfall, the second round of the GT Cup will start on a gradually drying track, and the game of tire strategy has become the focus of the game. Lin Xinlin/Zhang Yue, who started from the end of the field, rushed to the top three in the group right after the start with the help of the strong performance of the car and the dry tire strategy. After that, the two drivers played steadily and continued to advance, and finally won the GTL1 group championship together. In the two rounds of competition, the excellent results of one championship and one runner-up also made Lin Xinlin/Zhang Yue the biggest winners of the GTL1 group in the Chengdu opening race.

The debut of the GTL category has given many popular car models in the car-playing community the possibility of transforming into racing cars - from the new-era Toyota GR Supra, the 991-generation Porsche 911, the BMW M2, to the Nissan GT-R (R35) and BMW M3 (E92) that have become classics of the generation, a variety of high-performance models can be reborn in the GTL category and compete in the endurance race.

It is worth mentioning that this model not only enhances the playability of new models and extends the full life cycle value of classic models, but also stimulates the huge potential of the domestic racing car modification research and development industry and promotes its accelerated development. The racing cars in the GTL category are not only independently designed and developed by local teams, but also use a large number of domestic high-performance modification parts. With the actual combat training of the CEC arena, the GTL category is gradually becoming an excellent stage for domestic modification brands to test product quality and cutting-edge technology, and for domestic teams to fully demonstrate their racing modification capabilities.
