Sepang 12 Hours | Team 777 and Extreme Racing complete the first endurance race of 2025

News & Announcements Malaysia Sepang International Circuit March 17

On March 15, the 2025 Sepang 12 Hours Endurance Race kicked off the finals on Saturday! Climax Racing and Team 777 overcame numerous difficulties and obstacles in the tough endurance battle. Finally, with the unremitting efforts of all members, the five-member team No. 777, Li Dongsheng, Li Donghui, Ling Kang, Zhou Liyuan, and Lv Wei, won the third place in the GT3 Am category!

After taking second place in qualifying and first place in the GT3 Am category, Climax Racing made adjustments and repairs to the entire vehicle on the eve of Saturday's race to help the drivers perform well on the race day. The Sepang circuit on the race day still maintained sunny weather, and the hotter climate in Malaysia also destined this race to be a tough battle.

The No. 777 Audi car showed the competitive level and teamwork spirit of a professional team in this endurance race. Chinese professional driver Ling Kang quickly entered the state as the starting driver, firmly holding the second place in the whole field and closely following the leading group in front. As the race progressed, the local hot weather of up to 35℃ brought considerable challenges to both the driver and the car. The high temperature caused the tire to wear much faster than expected, but Ling Kang relied on his superb driving skills to effectively manage tire loss while ensuring lap time, and still firmly held the second place in the whole field at the end of the first stage.

Afterwards, Zhou Liyuan took over the No. 777 car and started his first overseas sports car endurance race, which was a milestone in his racing career. He performed well under pressure and successfully completed the 20-lap race. He not only accumulated valuable international competition experience, but also contributed to the team's competitiveness.

However, the cruelty of the endurance race was also fully reflected in this race. The bottom plate of the No. 777 Audi car was damaged due to continuous high-speed driving and track bumps. Although the team members made emergency repairs, the problem was not completely solved. To ensure the safety of the car, the team chose to push the car back to the garage for a bottom plate replacement. This pit stop took a long time, but the team members showed professional coping ability and efficient teamwork, allowing the car to return to the track to continue the race.

The highly anticipated "brother combination" Li Dongsheng and Li Donghui then appeared on the stage. The two cooperated tacitly and completed the driving tasks of two stages respectively. The brother drivers continued the team's stable performance, and through rhythm control and tire management, helped the No. 777 car always stay in the top three positions in the GT3 Am category.

Experienced driver Lv Wei took over the car in the subsequent race. Faced with complex track conditions and fierce competitive pressure, he responded calmly and completed the race steadily. After that, Ling Kang, who was responsible for the starting task, appeared again and improved the lap time, which once helped the team to the first place in the group.

In the second half of the race, the five-member Climax Racing team always implemented the strategy of seeking progress while maintaining stability. On the premise of ensuring the top ranking in the group, they continued to attack the front group. Although the tire blowout accident in the evening and the mechanical problems that occurred again caused the No. 777 car to stop moving forward for a while, the team members were able to solve the problem and return to the track with their unremitting efforts.

Throughout the race, Team 777 overcame numerous difficulties, from hot weather to mechanical failures, from tire management to driver rotations, and every link tested the team's overall strength. In the end, the No. 777 team successfully welcomed the checkered flag after completing 310 laps! Team 777 and Climax Racing won the eighth place in the field and the third place in the GT3 Am category in the second Sepang 12 Hours Endurance Race!
