News & Announcements Indonesia Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit May 12
The second round of the 2025 GT World Challenge Asia Cup was held at Mandalika, Indonesia on Sunday. After winning the runner-up in the first round on Saturday, the No. 2 car encountered multiple challenges in the race on Sunday and finally finished 12th in the Pro-Am category. Although it failed to continue its previous brilliant record, the team's tenacious competitive spirit in adversity provided valuable practical experience for the subsequent events of Extreme Racing.
No. 2 car (Zhou Bihuang/Ralf Aron)
Mercedes-AMG official driver Ralf Aron took on the important task of starting on Sunday, driving the No. 2 Mercedes-AMG car from the seventh place of the whole field. At the start, he was affected by the car in front of him and his acceleration was delayed, and he ranked tenth. The subsequent safety car slowed down the pace of the race, allowing Ralf to regain his rhythm.
After the safety car returned to the station, Ralf Aron drove the No. 2 car to attack the car in front, and after exerting pressure for several laps, he forced the car in front to make a mistake, and was able to move up one place. Entering the halfway pit stop stage, Ralf Aron completed the first half of the race and handed over the car to his teammate Zhou Bihuang in ninth place.
After taking over, Zhou Bihuang launched a full-scale pursuit, but due to the GPS system offset during the pit stop stage, the pit stop time was accidentally lower than the minimum stipulated time, and the No. 2 car group was sentenced by the race committee to return to the pit stop for 1 second. Zhou Bihuang tried to recover the lost ground in the remaining time of the race, but the problem of deviating from the track boundary prevented the No. 2 car from moving forward. The No. 2 car finally crossed the finish line in 25th place and 12th place in the Pro-Am category.
Although the final result of the race on Sunday was regrettable, in the fierce competition at the Mandalika track, the Extreme Tank showed its strength in the short-distance sprint stage and became one of the focuses of the race. This challenging race also inspired all members to face future events with more full fighting spirit and move forward towards higher goals.
