Climax Racing's two cars face the second round of the China GT season
News & Announcements China Shanghai International Circuit May 16
From May 16 to 18, the 2025 China GT China Supercar Championship will start the second race at the Shanghai International Circuit. Climax Racing will compete in two categories with a double-car lineup! Chen Fangping will partner with Finnish driver Elias Seppänen to drive the Ferrari 296 GT3 car to continue to compete in the GT3 Pro-Am category; Yin Jinchao will partner with Yu Yuanlin to drive the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsports car to participate in the GTS category.
In the China GT opener held last month, Climax Racing set speed records in the first race weekend. Finnish driver Elias Seppänen drove the No. 710 Ferrari 296 GT3 to win the overall pole position and set a new GT3 fastest lap record at the Shanghai International Circuit.
In the first round of the race, the No. 710 team showed strong competitiveness, and Chen Fangping drove the car across the finish line first. Unfortunately, due to the overtime penalty after the race, the fruits of victory were not captured. Although the change in ranking is regrettable, it is difficult to conceal the strong strength of the team leading the whole race. In the second round, the complex and changeable track conditions tested the team's strategy. The team tried to adopt differentiated tire tactics. Although they failed to achieve the expected goal, the two completed the race with their tenacious will and accumulated valuable experience for subsequent events.
Yin Jinchao and Yu Yuanlin will drive the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsports car for the first time to participate in the China GT event as a team. This is Yin Jinchao's first time participating in a GT race. Climax Racing will develop a pre-race test training plan based on his driving characteristics to help him familiarize himself with the Shanghai International Circuit and the characteristics of the Porsche GT4 car before the race weekend, and strive to quickly master the track rhythm and car control skills.
Yu Yuanlin returns to the GT4 arena as an "experienced player". His racing career has a deep connection with Porsche. In 2023, he showed a dominant performance in his first Porsche Sprint Challenge, winning 4 championships and 2 runner-ups throughout the year, and won the GT4 driver's annual championship with absolute advantage. He also established a tacit cooperation with the Extreme Team. In this season's national competition, he will use his technical accumulation as an anchor, and work with rookie Yin Jinchao to explore new boundaries of speed on the China GT stage and refresh the event's honor book.
As the only first-class track in China certified by the International Automobile Federation, the Shanghai International Circuit is famous for its extremely challenging track design. This 5.451-kilometer track consists of 16 corners, which includes a clever combination of high-speed straights and complex curves. As the home of Climax Racing, the team members have been competing in the race for several years and have accumulated rich data covering different weather conditions, tire strategies and track evolution, and are expected to achieve better results in the dual game of speed and strategy.
At the same time, this race will use Pirelli's new formula DHG tires, adding more highlights and variables to the event. Climax Racing will actively seize the opportunity of pre-race test driving, deeply explore the characteristics of new tires, make every effort to adapt technology and optimize performance, meet challenges in a better state, and strive to show outstanding strength and bring wonderful performances in the fierce competition at the Shanghai International Circuit!
