The new Porsche 911 GT3 R for the 2026 season has been announced!

News & Announcements August 14

Whether in the ADAC GT Masters, DTM, WEC, GT World Challenge Asia, IMSA, Intercontinental GT Challenge or the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS), the current Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) with KW V6 Racing has been making headlines in motorsport news for the past three years.

The Porsche 911 GT3 R is built to win – and it has certainly proven this recently, with victories in IMSA, DTM, Le Mans, the 6 Hours of Spa, the 12 Hours of Bathurst and the 12 Hours of Sebring, as well as the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). Porsche Motorsport recently unveiled its improved model for the 2026 season.

The new 911 GT3 R features numerous detail improvements, most notably the addition of vents on the front fenders. These changes enhance the 911 GT3 R's aerodynamic performance.

Aerodynamics are becoming increasingly crucial in GT3 racing. Regardless of manufacturer, the aerodynamic loads on GT3-spec race cars have steadily increased over the years. On long, high-speed sections, such as the Döttinger Höhe section of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, downforce can reach approximately 900 kg (2,000 lbs.), roughly two-thirds of the vehicle's weight.

The 2026 Porsche 911 GT3 R also features revised rear axle dynamics. Racing engineers refer to this as anti-squat value. As a result, the rear end dives less under full acceleration, improving dynamic axle load distribution.

To eliminate the need to connect a laptop to the vehicle's computer, the new race car is equipped with a remote recorder unit that stores all driving data on a USB drive for quick and easy access during pit stops.

Interestingly, these new details can also be retrofitted to existing 992 Porsche 911 GT3 R models.

Porsche Motorsport now offers factory-installed features including four laser ground clearance sensors, a track temperature sensor, a rearview camera, and a water bottle holder. New improvements include a sensor that detects whether the fuel nozzle is connected and an LED refueling indicator that indicates both the minimum refueling time and the amount of fuel to be refueled. These features are now standard, previously optional.

Of course, the new Porsche 911 GT3 R also offers special driveshafts for the FIA LMGT3 and IMSA classes, as well as a modified exhaust system similar to the LMGT3 version for the Nürburgring endurance series. A rear wing mount with a wider adjustment range is also available.

According to the Porsche Performance Manual, its 4.2-liter six-cylinder boxer engine produces up to 565 hp. Similarly, Porsche Motorsport continues to use the five-position adjustable KW V6 Racing, based on our solid piston technology.

We only made minor updates to the valve configuration and did not fundamentally change the V6 Racing. After all, we continuously develop and improve all our suspensions.

The net price of the new Porsche 911 GT3 R is 573,000 euros. To date, Porsche Motorsport has delivered a total of 106 Porsche 911 GT3 Rs (992).
