LANCIA Motorsport Data

Brand Overview
Lancia holds a legendary status in motorsport, primarily cemented by its unparalleled success in the World Rally Championship, where it remains the most successful manufacturer with a record ten constructors' titles. This era of dominance began with the nimble Fulvia but was immortalized by the revolutionary, purpose-built Stratos HF, which secured three consecutive championships from 1974 to 1976 with its distinctive wedge design and Ferrari power. During the formidable Group B era, the elegant 037 Rally became the last rear-wheel-drive car to clinch the title in 1983, before the brand unleashed the technically advanced Delta S4. However, Lancia’s ultimate supremacy was achieved with the subsequent Group A Delta, which, in its HF 4WD and Integrale evolutions, claimed a staggering and still-unbeaten six consecutive manufacturers' titles between 1987 and 1992. Beyond the rally stages, Lancia also showcased its engineering ambition in sports car racing with its Group C prototypes like the LC2, which competed at Le Mans, and an earlier, innovative foray into Formula One with the D50, a car whose design was later adopted by Ferrari to win a world championship. Lancia's racing legacy is defined by technical audacity, passion, and a lineage of the most iconic and triumphant competition cars ever built.
