The 2025 TSS Thailand Super Series Bangsaen Grand Prix has officially come to an end. B-Quik Absolute Racing showed strong competitiveness in the two rounds of competition this weekend. Facing this largest and most challenging street race in Thailand, our team not only successfully won the overall victory on Sunday, but also won multiple trophies in the two rounds of competition, with remarkable results.
First round of the race on Saturday
The first round of the race was held on Saturday. The slippery and changeable track conditions added great variables to the event, and the wonderful performance of Akash Nandy and the young Chinese driver Deng Yi undoubtedly became the focus of the whole game. This new combination became the team with the most overtime stops in the whole game due to wildcard participation and being silver-level drivers. This should have been an obstacle to the stage, but they broke expectations with their actions.
Starting from pole position, Akash continued to expand his lead with amazing skills in the rain. The No. 37 Audi in his hands galloped through the 3.7-kilometer street like a dancer. The team's strategy was precise, and the delayed pit stop allowed Nandy to make full use of the open track to expand the results. After handing over the baton, Deng Yi played steadily under the pressure of time penalty, not only withstanding the attack of the world-class factory driver behind him, but also showing a very high level in the fight. In the end, he came back with the second place in the whole field, bringing this rain battle to a successful conclusion.
Greg Bennett and Chris van der Drift also performed well in the No. 11 Ferrari 296 GT3. They competed in the GT3 event in Bangsaen for the first time, but they showed excellent tacit understanding. Greg successfully avoided many accidents in the early stage of the race and made steady progress. After Chris took over, he continued to work hard and made one of the fastest laps of the whole race. In the end, he finished fourth, giving a brilliant performance in his TSS debut this season.
Henk Kiks and Sandy Stuvik drove the Porsche 911 GT3 R and crossed the finish line in fifth place. Although the two rain-beating drivers drove the Porsche 911 GT3 R (Type 992) for the first time in Bangsaen, they performed well on the slippery streets of Bangsaen with their rich experience and finally brought home fifth place.
Another GT3 pair of Kiki and Dieter also performed steadily. For this team, Kiki returned to Bangseng after a lapse of ten years, while Dieter challenged the track outside Europe for the first time. Despite the limited preparation time before the race, the two drivers won the sixth place in the whole field with stable performance and won the GT3 AM group championship.
Sunday: Win the second round
The second round was held on Sunday. The hot weather made the competition more intense, and the drivers' physical fitness and tire management faced great challenges. After the start, Deng Yi, Sandy Stuvik and Chris van der Drift ranked 2nd to 4th respectively, firmly in the forefront.
Deng Yi showed great stability and rhythm control in the first half of the race, always maintaining the gap with the leader in front, ensuring that the No. 37 group was firmly in the forefront of the whole field, laying a solid foundation for the later stage of the victory. In the fiercely competitive race environment, Deng Yi not only successfully defended his position, but also effectively controlled the gap with the leading group, which was crucial for the implementation of subsequent strategies.
As the mandatory pit stop window opened, the team quickly formulated a response strategy based on the different pit stop rules of each group. Since Deng Yi and Nandy are both silver-level drivers and have to bear the extra 10 seconds of winning time brought by the runner-up in the previous round, the pit stop time of the No. 37 group is relatively longer. In order to strive for the rhythm of the second half of the race, the team decisively chose to recall the pit stop one lap in advance.
But during the pit stop, Deng Yi accidentally crossed the white line at the entrance of the maintenance area and was given a 5-second penalty after the race, which added a little uncertainty to the No. 37 team's road to victory. Despite this, his solid performance in the first half of the race still helped the team to maintain a crucial position window.
Despite this, Nandy, who took over, maintained a very high pace, overtook many other cars, and quickly caught up to second place. As the race drew to a close, the car that was originally leading made a mistake and crashed into the wall and retired, and the No. 37 car team took the lead. The safety car then came on stage to reset the gap, but after the race restarted, Nandy showed his champion style, opening up a gap of 5 seconds in two laps and successfully securing the victory for the team.
Henk and Sandy of the No. 26 car team continued to perform steadily. Sandy remained in third place in the early stage and jumped to second place with the help of a shorter stop time. Henk took over steadily in the latter stage and finally finished fourth.
However, the No. 11 Ferrari and another GT3 car encountered problems during the race and unfortunately failed to finish.
GT4 Group: Regroup and win the trophy
For the GT4 group, the No. 32 car retired on Saturday for some reason, but the crew members quickly adjusted their status and steadily advanced in the Sunday race, successfully winning the runner-up in the GT4 AM group, proving their tenacious resilience and team spirit.
On the challenging street circuit in Bangsaen, B-Quik Absolute Racing once again demonstrated its strength as Asia's top GT team. We left Bangseng with trophies and glory, and also added a strong touch to the 2025 season.
The next stop of the TSS Super Series will go to Sepang, Malaysia in August to start the overseas race.
