News & Announcements Malaysia Sepang International Circuit June 16

From June 6 to 8, 2025, the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia (PCCA) kicked off the third race of the season at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. The 610 Racing team sent two gentleman drivers, Cao Qikuan and Hu Bo, to join the fierce competition in the AM category.

As the third race of the season, this race introduced a new endurance race mode: on the basis of two rounds of 13 laps, an additional round of 43 minutes + 1 lap endurance race was added, which undoubtedly posed a new challenge to the drivers' physical fitness.

The first thing to do on Friday was the pre-race practice session. Both drivers had experience driving Porsche Cup cars at the Sepang Circuit before, so the pre-race practice was mainly to find the right vehicle settings and adjust the vehicle to the best condition. In the first practice session on behalf of 610 Racing, Cao Qikuan ranked fourth in the AM category with a time of 2:12.633 seconds; Hu Bo also performed well, ranking fifth in the AM category with a time of 2:12.842 seconds, only slightly behind.

The second practice session was held at night. As the sky darkened, the track temperature changed significantly. Although the cool weather environment was conducive to the performance of the drivers, driving at night put forward higher requirements for the drivers' concentration. Cao Qikuan ranked fifth in the AM category with a single lap time of 2:12.229 seconds; Hu Bo ran a time of 2:13.853 seconds at the beginning of the practice, ranking sixth in the category.

Qualifying officially kicked off on Saturday afternoon. Drivers need to refresh the fastest lap time in two 15-minute qualifying sessions to determine the starting order for rounds 5 and 6. In the first qualifying session of this station, Cao Qikuan performed well, running a time of 2:10.003 seconds in the third lap, even surpassing a group of opponents in higher groups, and won the pole position in the AM group in one fell swoop; Hu Bo was affected by the traffic conditions on the track and ranked 6th in the AM group with a lap time of 2:11.303 seconds.

After a short break, the second qualifying session officially started. The two drivers drove onto the track one after another and started the second round of sprint. Cao Qikuan continued his hot state. With the reduction of fuel and the reduction of vehicle weight, he ran a time of 2:09.795 seconds, ranking second in the AM group; Hu Bo seized the clean track space and ranked fifth in the AM group with a time of 2:10.088 seconds.

The fifth round of the season officially started at dusk. As the sun sets, the drivers need to constantly adapt to the drastic changes in track temperature and accurately adjust their driving style. Cao Qikuan also performed well in the race. He continued to advance in the third position of the group. When the race was nearing the end, he was close behind his opponent. Unfortunately, he failed to surpass him in the end. He crossed the finish line as the third place in the AM group and successfully landed on the podium.

Hu Bo, who started from the back of the field, gained several positions at the start, but was caught in a fight with his opponent during the long-distance driving and failed to continue to overtake, and finally finished fifth in the AM group.

On Sunday morning, the sixth round of the race officially kicked off. Cao Qikuan, who started from the second place in the group, followed his opponent after the start, waiting for the opportunity. Hu Bo unfortunately made a mistake at the start and fell to the end of the team. In the seventh lap of the race, a car on the field had a mechanical failure, the safety car was deployed, and the car field was compressed again.

Two laps later, the safety car returned to the pit area, the green flag waved, and the race restarted. Hu Bo found the right time to overtake his opponent in front of him, and finally finished fifth in the AM category.

Cao Qikuan, who had been closely following his opponent for the entire race, started the hunting moment in the last lap, completed the winning kill in the last corner, and won the AM category championship with the 11th place in the whole race!

On Sunday afternoon, the competition for the first endurance race of this season officially started. The race started with a rolling start, but a serious accident occurred on the first lap. Hu Bo's vision was blocked when he entered the corner and he collided with the car in front of him. The opponent's car spun and stopped on the racing line. Many cars behind him failed to avoid the collision, which caused a chain reaction. The race immediately showed the red flag and the race was suspended.

After more than half an hour of waiting, the race resumed. After the restart, Hu Bo was unfortunately penalized for passing through the maintenance area due to a track accident. Cao Qikuan continued to maintain a stable driving rhythm and waited for the opportunity to overtake. With ten minutes left before the end of the race, Cao Qikuan quickly surpassed his opponent with his rich racing driving experience, and finally crossed the finish line with the tenth place and the champion of the AM group, and he was on the podium in all three rounds of the Malaysian station! Hu Bo fought hard in the hot weather and crossed the finish line in fifth place in the AM group, completing the race!

So far, 610 Racing successfully completed the 2025 season Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Sepang Malaysia race, Cao Qikuan won the team two championships and one season in the AM category! The next stop will be moved to Thailand, to the Bangsaen Street Race, for the 8th and 9th rounds of the season!
