Asia's first mountain racetrack revolution: Baijun Mountain Racing Course reshapes the extreme driving experience

Nestled in the mountains of Shaxi Town, Xinchang County, Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, a 2.42-kilometer, closed-loop mountain course with a 71-meter drop is captivating performance car enthusiasts worldwide. As Asia's first legal mountain racing venue, the Baijun Mountain Racing Circuit, repurposed from original mining roads and mountain ridges, presents a core challenge with 31 consecutive bends and a mixed surface (a mix of asphalt and off-road). Dubbed the "Chinese version of the Nürburgring Nordschleife," the course's combination of naturally steep slopes with a maximum gradient of 45° and S-bends places the ultimate test on vehicle suspension tuning and driver control.

In January 2025, the Ford Performance Car (China) Club chartered the venue for a "Performance Party," showcasing nearly 200 performance vehicles, including Focus RS and Mustang, for a mountain road tour, time trial, and bonfire dinner. Amidst the roar of their engines, the fleet, like a dragon, circled the mountain ridge, demonstrating the track's all-weather adaptability—even on slippery surfaces after a heavy rainstorm, drivers were able to precisely corner with precision. Earlier, suspension brand BILSTEIN chose this location as a technical validation base. Engineers tested the damper's anti-roll performance in a series of corners, using models equipped with the DampTronic® X system, including the Porsche 992 and Lotus EMIRA. Tests demonstrated that the upgraded EVO S series dampers effectively mitigated bumps, imparting "flying" cornering stability.

At the inaugural public open day in May 2024, drivers from across the country conquered the winding track in their modified cars. Amateurs and professionals competed side-by-side, and post-race technical discussions focused on vehicle tuning fostered a unique "cornering social culture." The Spring Track Day in March of the same year further highlighted the track's resilience. Despite heavy rain the previous night causing flooding on the track, drivers gathered early in the morning to complete the challenging race in the morning mist.
