Pangkalahatang-ideya ng Racer
Eric Curran, born on June 8, 1975, is an accomplished American race car driver with a career spanning several decades. Curran's journey began in 1994 with a father-son project, preparing a Volvo for SCCA series racing. This initial venture proved successful, leading to 5 championships and 26 race wins. His early successes included winning 4 championships and 21 races in SCCA's Improved Touring B (ITB) class with a 1971 Volvo 142 racecar between 1994 and 1999. In 1999, he clinched the SCCA American Sedan National Championship racing a Camaro.
Curran's professional debut came at the 2000 Rolex 24 At Daytona, where he finished third in class and soon after scored his first professional win. He has since competed in numerous series, including IMSA, Grand-Am, American Le Mans, and NASCAR. Curran joined Whelen Motorsports in 2007. Racing for Sonny Whelen's Whelen Engineering team for over a decade, Curran demonstrated versatility by adapting to various GT and Touring cars. His achievements include the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech Prototype Driver's Championship and the 2018 IMSA Prototype Championship, along with the Michelin Endurance Cup in 2019, driving the Cadillac DPi-V.R.
In December 2019, Curran transitioned from full-time DPi driving to focus on other priorities, including his exotic car dealership, West Coast Exotic Cars, and working on bringing a new racetrack to Southern California. He continues to coach and drive in historic sports car events and also works as a test driver for Saleen. Throughout his career, Curran has secured over 30 professional race wins and 17 pole positions, solidifying his status as a top-tier driver in sports car racing.
