David Donohue

David Donohue, born on January 5, 1967, is an accomplished American race car driver with a career spanning various racing series and classes. As the son of racing legend Mark Donohue, David has carved his own path in motorsports, achieving significant success in his own right.

Donohue's racing resume includes participation in NASCAR's Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series, as well as a GT2 class victory at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, one of his most memorable achievements came in 2009 when he won the 24 Hours of Daytona, driving a Brumos-entered Riley-Porsche alongside Antonio García, Darren Law, and Buddy Rice. This victory was particularly special, as it occurred almost exactly 40 years after his father's own Daytona win. The margin of victory, a mere 0.167 seconds over Juan Pablo Montoya, marked the closest finish in the race's history and one of the closest in major international 24-hour motorsports events. In 2013, Donohue secured another victory at Daytona, winning the GX class in a Napleton Porsche Cayman S.

Beyond his competitive racing career, Donohue has also contributed to the development of high-performance vehicles, including the BMW M3 GT and M5 Supercar, Dodge Viper GTS-R, and Porsche GT3 R Pikes Peak EVO. More recently, he has joined Hennessey Special Vehicles as a test driver for the Venom F5 hypercar, focusing on pushing the boundaries of hypercar performance and pursuing world records. He also worked for Porsche Cars North America as the 918 Spyder Client Relationship Manager.
