CTCC China Cup: The racing journey from the beginning to diversified development

The predecessor of the CTCC China Cup was the CCC National Automobile Circuit Championship, which started in 2004. At that time, the Shanghai International Circuit was completed and the CCC opening match was held. This was also the first large-scale automobile event after the trial operation of the circuit. Among them, the Chinese mass-produced car 1600cc category was the first category established after the birth of CCC.

In 2004-2006, it was the starting stage from 0-1. The calendar set up multiple sub-stations in Shanghai, Zhuhai, Beijing, Chengdu and other places. The three-party communication between the China Automobile Federation and the event operator and the team alliance promoted the development of the event and established the club system model of the "Thousand Six Alliance", which became the prototype of the manufacturer committee later.

From 2006 to 2009, the Chinese automobile market flourished. Shanghai Lisheng Sports Culture Communication Co., Ltd. became the promoter of CTCC in 2009. The event introduced multiple elements and attracted many joint venture automobile manufacturers such as Changan Ford, Shanghai Volkswagen, and Beijing Hyundai to participate. The "Super Thousand Six" set off the first manufacturer competition period. In the same year, CCC was renamed CTCC, the race calendar was increased, and the tire suppliers were unified.

In 2010, CTCC established the manufacturer cup for the first time and also ushered in the first street race. In 2011, the turbocharged group competition was established and competed with WTCC, marking the close connection between Chinese racing and the world stage. In 2012, the group was reduced and the 1.6T rule was promoted. In 2015, the Super Cup was created. In 2021, the Golden League model with multiple events was proposed.

Over the years, CTCC has continuously improved the rules of the competition, with driver cups, manufacturer cups, etc., and adopts a top ten scoring system. The competition is generally held from Thursday to Sunday, the length of the event is 60KM, and the engine is modified from a civilian car engine. It brings together many professional teams and outstanding drivers, such as Han Han, Wang Rui, Liu Yang, etc., and also broadcasts live through multiple channels. CTCC is not only an arena for drivers and car companies, but also contributes to the development of domestic racing.
