Super GT Series Overview

The Super GT Series, established in 1993 as the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC) and rebranded in 2005, is Japan's premier sports car racing championship. Sanctioned by the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) and managed by the GT Association (GTA), the series features two main classes: GT500 and GT300, distinguished by vehicle specifications and performance levels. Races are held at renowned circuits across Japan, including Fuji Speedway, Suzuka Circuit, and Twin Ring Motegi. The series has also expanded internationally, with past events in Malaysia and Thailand. In 2024, Super GT introduced an aggregate qualifying format, combining times from two sessions to determine starting grids, and began using 50% renewable carbon-neutral synthetic fuel in the GT300 class, reflecting a commitment to sustainability. The series attracts top-tier drivers and manufacturers, contributing to its reputation as a highly competitive and technologically advanced racing championship.
