Overzicht van Super GT-serie
De Super GT Series, opgericht in 1993 als het All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC) en in 2005 omgedoopt, is het belangrijkste sportwagenracekampioenschap van Japan. De serie is goedgekeurd door de Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) en wordt beheerd door de GT Association (GTA). De serie kent twee hoofdklassen: GT500 en GT300, die zich onderscheiden door voertuigspecificaties en prestatieniveaus. Races worden gehouden op gerenommeerde circuits in heel Japan, waaronder Fuji Speedway, Suzuka Circuit en Twin Ring Motegi. De serie is ook internationaal uitgebreid, met eerdere evenementen in Maleisië en Thailand. In 2024 introduceerde Super GT een gecombineerd kwalificatieformat, waarbij tijden van twee sessies werden gecombineerd om de startgrids te bepalen, en begon met het gebruik van 50% hernieuwbare koolstofneutrale synthetische brandstof in de GT300-klasse, wat een toewijding aan duurzaamheid weerspiegelt. De serie trekt topcoureurs en fabrikanten aan, wat bijdraagt aan de reputatie als een zeer competitief en technologisch geavanceerd racekampioenschap.
