2025 Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup 2025: Global GT Titans Return to the Guia Circuit

News & Announcements Macau S.A.R. Macau Guia Circuit October 13

The world’s elite GT drivers are set to converge on the legendary Macau Guia Circuit from November 13–16 for the Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup 2025, one of the most prestigious prizes in international GT racing. Six of the world’s most iconic manufacturers — Lamborghini, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Audi, and McLaren — will battle for supremacy on the tight and treacherous streets of Macau.

The Crown Jewel of GT Racing

The Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup stands as the ultimate proving ground for GT3 machinery and their factory-backed stars. This year’s grid features a dazzling mix of past champions, rising stars, and factory drivers all eager to etch their names into the Guia Circuit’s storied history.

Mortara Aims for a Historic Fifth Win

Known as “Mr. Macao,” Edoardo Mortara returns in a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo 2 run by Absolute Corse. The Swiss driver already holds four Macau GT Cup titles, tied with Maro Engel, and will seek a record-breaking fifth victory to reclaim his place as the event’s most successful driver.

Mortara’s teammate Luca Engstler will pilot a second Lamborghini, reinforcing Absolute Corse’s formidable two-car assault. A win for Mortara would also mark Lamborghini’s first Macau triumph since Keita Sawa’s back-to-back victories in 2009–2010.

BMW’s Marciello and Van der Linde Lead the Charge

Raffaele Marciello, winner of the Macau GT Cup in 2019 and 2023, returns to the Guia Circuit — this time representing BMW. The Italian will drive for ROWE Racing in a BMW M4 GT3, making his second Macau appearance with the Bavarian marque.

Joining him in BMW’s lineup is Sheldon van der Linde (South Africa) from Team WRT, a DTM standout chasing his maiden FIA GT World Cup win. Together, they form one of the strongest BMW duos ever fielded in Macau.

Porsche’s Five-Car Assault

No brand is better represented this year than Porsche, with five 911 GT3 R entries across three teams:

  • Tempo by Absolute Racing: 2016 Macau GT Cup champion Laurens Vanthoor teams up with Alessio Picariello.
  • SCHUMACHER CLRT: Fielding Ayhancan Güven, the reigning 2025 DTM Champion, alongside Laurin Heinrich.
  • Phantom Global Racing: Featuring Dorian Boccolacci (France) in a solo Porsche entry.

This diverse line-up underscores Porsche’s continued dominance and commitment to Macau success.

Ferrari’s Quest for a First Macau Victory

Despite its immense GT pedigree, Ferrari is still chasing its first Macau GT Cup win. The Italian marque will deploy a three-car line-up, led by factory ace Antonio Fuoco in the AF Corse SRL 296 GT3.

He is joined by Deng Yi of Winhere Motorsports and Ye Yifei, the first Chinese Ferrari factory driver, representing Harmony Racing. Ye made history earlier this year by becoming the first Chinese driver to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and now returns to Macau for his second appearance on the Guia Circuit.

Audi’s Return to the Frontline

After nearly a decade without a Macau win, Audi returns in force with three R8 LMS GT3 evo II cars:

  • FAW Audi Sport Asia Team Phantom fields Christopher Haase (Germany).
  • Audi Sport Asia Team Phantom adds Joel Eriksson (Sweden), who is preparing for Macau by racing in the GT World Challenge Asia finale in Beijing.
  • Uno Racing Team brings back long-time Macau favourite Adderly Fong (Hong Kong), adding local experience to Audi’s line-up.

McLaren Joins the Mix

Completing the six-brand roster, Optimum Motorsport enters a McLaren 720S GT3 for Benjamin Goethe, adding British flair to the high-powered international grid.

Super Pole Debuts for 2025

A new ‘Super Pole’ qualifying format debuts this year, adding extra excitement to the build-up.

  • Qualifying Session: A 30-minute timed session determines the top 10 drivers.
  • Super Pole Shootout: Those 10 get two flying laps on brand-new tyres with the circuit to themselves — a pure test of precision and bravery.
  • Qualification Race: A 12-lap contest on Saturday sets the grid.
  • Main Race: The 16-lap finale on Sunday will crown the 2025 Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup Champion.

A Showdown of Champions

With world-class drivers, legendary manufacturers, and the introduction of the new Super Pole format, the 2025 Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup promises one of the most spectacular weekends in GT racing. On the unforgiving streets of Macau, only perfection will deliver victory — and eternal glory on the world stage.
