News & Announcements China Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit June 11
From May 30 to June 1, 2025, the 2025 Xiaomi China Endurance Championship (CEC) kicked off its first race of the year at the Chengdu Tianfu International Circuit. In the GT Cup GT4 category, which was attended by strong teams and outstanding drivers, the Ultimate Racing team of Wang Haohao/Yang Chunlei/Zhang Wenyan, who was based in Chengdu, and the Beijing WingsRacing team of Diao Yu/Zhang Hanxu, who entered the GT race for the first time, won the GT4 AM-AM group victory in the first and second round finals respectively, which was a smooth start for the season.
In the Chengdu opening race, the home team Ultimate Racing was represented by Wang Haohao and Yang Chunlei, the gold medal pair who have won many top domestic races, and Zhang Wenyan, a rookie on the field. The three drivers drove the No. 718 Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport car to compete. As a resident team, Ultimate Racing's familiarity with the Chengdu racetrack and its advantages in vehicle tuning quickly emerged at the beginning of the race. In the two qualifying rounds, Wang Haohao/Yang Chunlei/Zhang Wenyan won the second and pole positions in the GT4 AM-AM category, laying a solid foundation for the two-round finals to hit the podium.
As the perennial winner of the CEC National Cup, Beijing WingsRacing Team is expanding into the GT Cup for the first time this year, stepping into the high-level competition of the GT4 category. Facing a new season and new challenges, Beijing WingsRacing Team sent Diao Yu and Zhang Hanxu, who had a brilliant record in the National Cup 2000 category in the past, to drive the Audi R8 LMS GT4 EVO car to challenge. With rich experience in the competition, Beijing WingsRacing and Diao Yu/Zhang Hanxu quickly got into the rhythm in the new group. The two drivers took pole position in the GT4 AM-AM group in the first qualifying and second place in the GT4 AM-AM group in the second qualifying to welcome the finals.
Entering the final stage, the two teams fought fiercely from beginning to end. In the first round of the final, Wang Haohao/Yang Chunlei/Zhang Wenyan and Diao Yu/Zhang Hanxu wrestled several times. Relying on their steady performance, Wang Haohao/Yang Chunlei/Zhang Wenyan was better and successfully won the GT4 AM-AM group victory, making a good start for the Ultimate Racing team in the next season. Diao Yu/Zhang Hanxu followed closely and won the second place in the group.
In the second round of the final, the semi-dry and wet road surface at the beginning added more variables to the game, and the tire strategy selection of each team became a major factor in the battle. Wang Haohao/Yang Chunlei/Zhang Wenyan started from the pole position of the group with rain tires, but as the track surface continued to dry, Diao Yu/Zhang Hanxu, who started with dry tires, gradually gained the upper hand and took the lead in the group. The Diao Yu/Zhang Hanxu team perfectly executed the team strategy in this round, and the two pit stops were also very smooth. They gained advantages both inside and outside the track, and finally brought back the GT4 AA group championship trophy for the Beijing WingsRacing team's first GT4 group trip. Wang Haohao/Yang Chunlei/Zhang Wenyan won the second place in the group in this round.
In this way, Wang Haohao/Yang Chunlei/Zhang Wenyan and Diao Yu/Zhang Hanxu both finished the opening match with one championship and one runner-up in the group. There is no doubt that the situation of strong dialogue will continue in the remaining season. The next station CEC will return to Ningbo and start a new round of competition at Ningbo International Circuit. Please look forward to it.
