Reviews China Beijing Street Circuit October 22

On October 19th, the 2025 GT World Challenge Asia (GTWC Asia) season concluded with the final two rounds of the season on the Beijing street circuit. Rio and Shaun Thong of the Uno Racing Team secured a double podium finish in the No. 16 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, securing silver in both Silver Cup classes and bringing the 2025 season to a successful close!

Round 1: A dramatic comeback to the podium

The first round of the Beijing race kicked off on time that morning. Despite sunny weather on Sunday, Beijing's autumn morning temperatures were only around 10 degrees Celsius, making tire temperature once again the decisive factor in the race.

Rio started the round eighth overall and fourth in his class. After a fierce battle at the start, he rose to sixth overall, breaking into the top three in his class, and ultimately finished seventh overall. Near the quarter-point mark of the race, an accident triggered a safety car deployment, interrupting the drivers' improved pace. Maintaining tire temperature became a key priority during the safety car period.

The situation on the track suddenly changed after the race resumed. A serious accident occurred in the front row during the restart, prompting another safety car deployment. Rio, who had been performing steadily, rose to fifth overall and second in class.

The race then saw the opening of the pit stop window during the safety car period. Most drivers chose to pit immediately, but the No. 16 car took a late pit stop strategy, moving to first place overall. Tang Weifeng took over and left the pits, finishing 21st overall and fourth in class.

The race restarted with a quarter of the time remaining. Tang Weifeng advanced to 20th overall. Due to several drivers receiving penalties for insufficient pit stops, the field became more uncertain. Tang Weifeng, who performed consistently, significantly improved his position, moving to ninth overall and third in his class.

In the final moments of the race, Tang Weifeng climbed to second place in his group with a solid performance. He then launched a fierce battle for the championship in his group, maintaining his aggressive attack until the very end, ultimately crossing the finish line in eighth place overall. Rio and Tang Weifeng secured second place in both the Silver Cup and the China Cup!

Round 2: A fiery drive secured second place

The final round of the 2025 season arrived as scheduled on Sunday afternoon. Due to pre-race difficulties for his rivals, Tang Weifeng started 17th overall and third in his class. He successfully maintained his position after the start, closely following his opponent and actively applying pressure, gradually widening the gap to those behind him. Tang Weifeng continued to pose a threat, narrowing the gap to the front to within 0.5 seconds.

Just before the pit stop window opened, the race was unexpectedly brought out by the Safety Car. Tang Weifeng took the opportunity to pit, leaving Rio to take over the final sprint.

The large number of cars pitting created complex pit traffic. After the race resumed, Rio advanced to 14th overall and second in his class, gaining several places amidst the fierce competition in the midfield. As Rio battled for the class championship with his rivals, the race was once again brought out by the safety car due to a serious accident.

Finally, the race ended under the safety car. Rio crossed the finish line in 11th place, and together with Tang Weifeng, he secured second place in the Silver Cup class. This marked their second podium finish in the class, concluding the final battle of the 2025 season!

Looking back on this season, the Uno Racing Team, with the support of its year-round partner, renowned Japanese brake brand ENDLESS, competed in the Asia-Pacific GT Championship. They debuted on several prestigious circuits, securing podium finishes at every race and claiming Silver Cup class victories in Buriram, Thailand, and Okayama, Japan. Thanks to their outstanding performance throughout the year, Rio and Tang Weifeng ultimately secured third place in the 2025 Silver Cup class.
