News & Announcements Malaysia Sepang International Circuit April 14
On April 13, the opening round of the GT World Challenge Asia Cup (GTWC Asia) was held at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia. After the challenge of the first round on Saturday, the Uno Racing Team returned to the field strongly on Sunday. With the help of the well-known Japanese brake system brand ENDLESS, Rio and Tang Weifeng in the No. 16 car group achieved an 11-position improvement throughout the game, ranking eighth among the 32 car groups, and returned with honors as the runner-up of the Silver Group and the third place of the China Cup!
The local temperature on Sunday morning was as high as 31 degrees Celsius, and the air humidity was close to 65%, showing typical tropical hot and humid weather. Rio took on the responsibility of starting the second round. He started from 19th place in the No. 16 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, stabilized his position in the fierce competition at the start, and then steadily moved forward with the second place in the group.
Rio played steadily in the first half of the race, steadily improving his lap time as he moved forward, keeping up with the pace of the professional drivers competing in front of him, and continuing to maintain his second place in the Silver group. In the car group led by world-class professional drivers, Rio tried his best to follow. After the halfway mandatory pit stop window opened, Rio accurately implemented the team strategy, returned to the maintenance area for pit stop work at the first time, and safely handed over the No. 16 Audi car to his teammate Tang Weifeng.
Tang Weifeng immediately started the pursuit mode after taking over the No. 16 car and returning to the stage. Although the race was subsequently caused by the safety car being deployed due to an accident and the race time was compressed, Tang Weifeng did not lose his composure at all, and always kept a steady rhythm. After the race resumed, he continued to attack immediately, and his ranking on the field continued to improve.
Tang Weifeng sprinted all the way, constantly refreshing his personal fastest lap time, and continuously overtook in a short period of time, achieving an improvement of more than ten places, and successfully broke into the top ten in the final stage of the race. After entering the overall points area, Tang Weifeng continued to attack forward and staged a wonderful offensive and defensive duel with his opponent. In the end, Tang Weifeng followed his opponent to the finish line with a slight gap of only 0.116 seconds, and won the eighth place in the whole game. Rio and Tang Weifeng won the runner-up in the Silver category in this round, and also won the third place in the China Cup!
