GTWC Asia Origine Motorsport welcomes the first race of the season at Sepang
News & Announcements Sepang International Circuit April 11
From April 11 to 13, the 2025 GT World Challenge Asia Cup (GTWC Asia) will officially kick off at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Origine Motorsport will set out with a three-car lineup this weekend, joining hands with six powerful drivers, Ye Hongli, Yuan Bo, Lv Wei, Bastian Buus, Li Kerong and Anders Fjordbach, to once again start the journey to defend the title!
The Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia will be the venue for the GTWC Asia season opener for the second consecutive year. The Sepang Circuit was first opened in 1999. It is 5.543 kilometers long and has a total of 15 corners. As the only track in Southeast Asia with FIA Level 1 and FIM Level A certification, Sepang Circuit has always been an important fulcrum for motorsports in the Asia-Pacific region.
Sepang has been a key stop on the GTWC Asia calendar for many seasons, and the first race since its inception was held on this track. In the past two seasons, Origine Motorsport has won the championship in Sepang many times and achieved excellent results. In the 2023 season, the team won the first and second place in the second round of the race in Sepang, and was crowned the annual team champion, achieving the achievement of winning the championship in its first show. In the opening game of the 2024 season, the team's two car groups won the third place and the championship in the two rounds of the Sepang station, respectively, starting the road to defending the title.
In the past 2024 season, Origine Motorsport ushered in the most successful season since the establishment of the team. The two main drivers of the No. 87 car group, Yuan Bo and Ye Hongli, won the overall victory twice and stepped onto the podium four times throughout the year, winning the annual championship and the Silver-Am category championship. Entering the new season, Yuan Bo and Ye Hongli, the "golden partner", will continue to fight side by side, join the Pro-Am category in the new season, and meet higher-level challenges.
Lv Wei, a long-term partner of Origine Motorsport, will continue to lead the No. 4 car, competing in the Pro-Am category for the third consecutive year, and strive for the annual championship. Looking back at the 2024 season, Lv Wei also showed outstanding competitiveness, winning twice and taking the stage four times, making great contributions to the team's second consecutive championship. This weekend, Lv Wei will partner with Porsche Super Cup (PMSC) champion and Porsche official driver Bastian Buus to strive for good results.
The newly crowned Origine Motorsport’s powerful gentleman driver Li Kerong will drive the team’s third Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) to participate in the Silver-Am category. Li Kerong, who has rich experience in the IMSA Guardtech SportsCar Championship GTD category, will share the No. 86 car with Danish professional driver Anders Fjordbach to make his Asia-Pacific debut.
GTWC Asia 2025 season is about to begin. Origine Motorsport will take glory as its foundation and start again towards the top. It will send six powerful drivers to challenge the annual team and driver double crowns again! Let us wish the team a great victory in the opening race in Sepang this weekend!
