Přehled závodníka

Javier Quirós is a highly accomplished Costa Rican racing driver with a career spanning several decades and encompassing various forms of motorsport. Born on July 16, 1956, Quirós didn't start racing until he was 22, acquiring a go-kart in exchange for a sound system and some die-cast cars. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a national karting champion in his second season. His early career included autocross, quadcross, rallycross, and 4x4 challenges, before transitioning to on-track endurance sports car racing.

Quiros has secured an impressive 21 national titles, primarily in the prestigious 3 Hours of Costa Rica events held at La Guácima racetrack. He expanded his racing endeavors internationally, competing throughout Central America and the Caribbean, before making his mark in the United States. While racing in the United States, Javier joined Tom Milner's Prototype Technology Group (PTG), which was contracted by BMW North America. In 1997, he was part of the team that won the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring outright in the GTS-3 class driving a BMW M3 E36. BMW offered Quiros a spot on their European factory team. However, he declined, citing family obligations and commitments to Purdy Motor. He later participated in the VLN 4 Hours of the Nürburgring race in 2009, winning the SP8 class in a pre-production Lexus LFA alongside drift champion Akira Iida and Akio Toyoda (under the pseudonym "Morizo").

Beyond racing, Quirós has also been involved in team management and the automotive business. His passion for motorsports extends to his family, with his nephew, Amadeo Quirós Martén, also pursuing a racing career. Quirós even had the special privilege of having his Lexus LFA be the 14th one produced, as he has raced with the number 14 for many years. Javier Quiros' career showcases a blend of talent, dedication, and a deep love for motorsports, making him a significant figure in Costa Rican and Latin American racing.
