The Greater Bay Area GT Cup (GT4) will be one of the official races featured in the 72nd Macau Grand Prix, held from 13 to 16 November 2025 at the world-famous Guia Circuit. The event is sanctioned by the Automobile General Association Macao-China (AAMC) and organized by the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee, under the authority of the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, and listed on the FIA International Sporting Calendar.

Event Format

According to Article 6 of the sporting regulations:

  • Free Practice: 30 minutes
  • Qualifying: 30 minutes
  • Race: 9 laps or a maximum of 35 minutes (whichever comes first).
    Each lap is 6.2 km long; if the race is suspended, the stoppage time may be added to the total duration.

Participation in qualifying is mandatory. A driver who cannot participate due to technical or accident damage may start from the back of the grid upon steward approval.


Eligible Cars

This event is reserved exclusively for GT4-homologated cars in accordance with Appendix J Article 253 of the FIA Technical Regulations.

  • Eligible Models: As listed in Appendix Two (SRO GT4 homologations).
  • BoP: Must comply with official SRO GT4 Balance of Performance (BoP) as issued by the SRO GT Bureau.
  • Noise Limit: ≤110 dB(A) measured at 4,000 rpm, 0.5 m at 45° from the exhaust.
  • Data Logger: AAMC-specified data system (AIM EVO5 or Stable GSpot G3) required; two SD cards must be installed and marked with car number.
  • Onboard Camera: AAMC official system mandatory; private cameras allowed only for driver training with organizer’s permission.
    Failure to comply results in disqualification from practice or race.

Eligible Drivers and Entry

  • Licence Requirement: FIA International Grade ITD1 or ITD-C.
  • Medical Certificate: Mandatory.
  • Entry Limitation: Only the top 32 classified drivers from the 2025 Greater Bay Area GT Cup (GT4) in the Macau Touring Car Series (MTCS) may enter, using the same car.
  • Entry Period: 25 August – 19 September 2025.
  • Entry Fee: MOP 6,000.
  • Administrative Change Fee: MOP 2,000.
  • Maximum Entries: 30 cars.
  • No driver substitution is allowed.

Tyres

  • Official Supplier: Pirelli
  • Dry Tyres: Maximum 2 new sets
  • Wet Tyres: Maximum 2 new sets
  • Tyre Warmers: Permitted
  • Chemical/Mechanical Treatment: Prohibited
  • Penalty for non-control tyres: MOP 30,000 fine and possible disqualification
  • Mixing wet/dry tyres: Not allowed

Weight and Technical Restrictions

  • Minimum Car Weight: As per GT4 homologation (see Appendix Two).
  • Driver Weighing: Mandatory during scrutineering; recorded under Chief Scrutineer’s control.
  • Engine and Chassis:
    • Each driver may use only one sealed engine and one sealed chassis during the event.
    • Replacement requires steward approval and may incur penalties unless deemed force majeure.
  • Transponder: Mandatory AAMC timing device.

Safety and Pit Regulations

  • Pit Speed Limit: 50 km/h (fine: MOP 500 per km/h over limit).
  • Pit Lane Layout: Two lanes (fast & inner working lane).
  • Pit Entry/Exit: Strict adherence to white lines; fines for crossing.
  • Refuelling: Prohibited during sessions and race.
  • Fire Extinguishers: Two 5 kg units per pit.
  • Tyre Changes: Only permitted on the right side of the inner lane; one air/battery gun per car.
  • No reversing in pit lane (fine: MOP 5,000).
  • No liquid refill during sessions.
  • Smoking prohibited in all GP areas.
  • People under 18 not allowed in pit/paddock areas.
  • Wet Track: Headlights, rear lights, and fog lights must be on.

Starting Procedure and Race Rules

  • Start Type: Rolling start (Article 31).
  • Grid Formation: 2x2, 7.2 m spacing, pole on the left.
  • Grid Limit: 115% of pole position time rule applies.
  • Safety Car: Used per FIA International Sporting Code.
  • Race Distance: 9 laps or 35 minutes.
  • Suspension and Resumption: Governed by Articles 34–35.

Penalties and Appeals

The Stewards may impose:

  • Drive-through or 10s stop-and-go penalties.
  • Fines up to MOP 50,000.
  • Grid drop, time penalty, disqualification.
  • Protests: MOP 10,000 deposit.
  • Technical dismantling protest: Additional MOP 10,000.
  • Appeal deposit: MOP 60,000.
  • Certain penalties (e.g., drive-through, stop-go) not subject to appeal.

Awards and Promotion

  • Podium Caps: Supplied by Pirelli, mandatory for ceremony.
  • Trophies: Presented to top finishers.
  • Media Duties: Mandatory participation in press conference and promotional events.
  • Image Rights: Organizer may use names, car images, and footage for Macau GP promotion.
  • Logo Use: “Macau Grand Prix” logo cannot be used without written approval.
