Satoshi Motoyama

Satoshi Motoyama, born on March 4, 1971, is a highly decorated Japanese professional racing driver and team manager. Best known for his success in the Super GT Series (formerly JGTC) and the Formula Nippon/Super Formula Championship, Motoyama has cemented his place as one of Japan's most accomplished racing drivers. He spent a significant part of his career as a factory driver for Nissan, showcasing his talent in both GT and single-seater racing.

Motoyama's achievements include three GT500 class championships in Super GT (2003, 2004, 2008) and four Formula Nippon/Super Formula titles (1998, 2001, 2003, 2005). His career statistics in Super GT include 16 wins, 9 pole positions, and 12 fastest laps across 137 starts. In Formula Nippon/Super Formula, he boasts 27 wins and 18 pole positions over 125 races. Beyond domestic success, Motoyama has also participated in prestigious international events, including four starts at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with a best finish of 10th overall in 1998.

Even after retiring from full-time GT500 driving in 2018, Motoyama has remained active in the racing world. He has taken on roles such as executive advisor for Nissan's motorsport division and team principal for B-Max Racing's Super Formula program. In December 2020, he made a return to single-seater racing, competing in the Formula Regional Japanese Championship. His continued involvement in motorsport highlights his enduring passion for racing and his commitment to contributing to the sport's development in Japan.
