Circuit Overview

Yancheng Street Circuit is a temporary street circuit located in the coastal city of Yancheng, north of Shanghai, China. It has been a regular venue for the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) since its inception in 2014. The circuit is notable for being the first of its kind in China to be entirely designed by local professionals, showcasing the city's automotive heritage and its connection to the automotive industry, particularly with the presence of Kia Motor's two Chinese plants.

The circuit is situated in the Yancheng Economic Development Zone, adjacent to one of Kia's factories. It is part of a larger automotive festival that celebrates the city's industrial growth and its automotive sector. The 11-turn, 2.8km circuit features a mix of 90-degree corners and a double-apex turn one hairpin, which provides opportunities for overtaking. The track's design incorporates wide planned highways, giving it a feel akin to a permanent racing facility. It encircles undeveloped land between the Yancheng International Convention and Exhibition Centre and the Happy Valley theme park. The circuit is accredited to the FIA Grade 4 status, indicating its suitability for international racing events. The inaugural event in 2014 was marked by controversy, with an accident during qualifying affecting the race schedule and post-race scrutineering leading to significant changes in the final standings. The following year saw improvements in track conditions, with less dust and better grip, resulting in a memorable victory for Leo Yi Hong Li in a Kia.
