S-FJ - Super FJ Sugo Series

The Super FJ Sugo Series is a regional championship within the larger Super FJ (Super Formula Japan) category, a single-seater motor racing series in Japan. Established in2007 as a successor to the FJ1600 series, Super FJ is positioned as the entry-level step on the Japanese formula racing ladder, designed to be a cost-effective platform for aspiring drivers to develop their skills.The series is overseen by the Japan Scholarship System (JSS) and issanctioned by the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF). Races are held at various major circuits across Japan,with Sportsland SUGO hosting its own championship series. The cars used in Super FJ feature a steel space-frame chassis fromvarious constructors, powered by a Honda L15A 1.5-liter engine, and are equipped with front andrear wings, which distinguishes them from their FJ1600 predecessors and provides drivers with experience in aerodynamic effects. The series has been a proving ground for many successful drivers who have gone on to compete in higher-level categories such as Super Formula and Super GT, and even Formula One.
