S-FJ - JAF Cup Super FJ

Super FJ, commonly abbreviated as S-FJ, is a Japanese single-seater formula racing category that serves as the entry-level for formula racing in the country.Established in 2007 by the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) as a successor to the FJ1600 series, Super FJ was created to provide a cost-effective platform for aspiring drivers to develop their skills. The series is overseen by the Japan Scholarship System (JSS) and features regional championships held at majorcircuits across Japan, including Suzuka, Fuji, Motegi, and Okayama. The culmination of the season is the 'Japan's No. 1 Deciding Race', often referred to asthe JAF Cup, where top competitors from each regional series compete for the national title. Thecars feature a steel tube space frame chassis with a semi-monocoque structure, powered by a Honda 1.5LL15A engine, and utilize Dunlop tires. The regulations are designed to keep costs down while ensuringsafety and providing a valuable learning experience in car setup and driving technique. Many successful Japanese drivers, including Formula One driver YukiTsunoda, have graduated from the Super FJ series, highlighting its importance in the Japanese motorsport ladder.
