GTWC Asia Cup is about to start, Uno Racing Team's first race at Sepang Circuit

News & Announcements Malaysia Sepang International Circuit April 11

This weekend, the GT World Challenge Asia (GTWC Asia) will kick off the 2025 season at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia. Uno Racing Team's powerful drivers Rio and Tang Weifeng will start the new season with the help of the well-known Japanese brake system brand ENDLESS, driving the No. 16 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II car.

The Sepang Circuit in Malaysia, where the 2025 GTWC Asia opener will be held, is one of the centers of Asian motorsports and is famous for hosting world championships such as F1 and MotoGP. The track is 5.543 kilometers long and includes 15 corners. Drivers need to face the extreme challenges brought by two long straights and many medium- and high-speed continuous combination corners. In addition, the humid and hot climate in tropical regions places strict demands on the physical fitness of drivers and the stability of vehicles, and the changeable weather also brings variables to the competition.

As the first battle of the top GT event in the Asia-Pacific region, the GTWC Asia opening battle attracted 33 racing cars, bringing together GT3 cars from 7 manufacturers, and gathering professional masters from all over the world and top players in the Asia-Pacific region. Many previous champions and powerful newcomers will gather in Malaysia to compete.

Rio and Tang Weifeng will join hands to represent Uno Racing Team in the year-round competition of the Silver Group and the "China Cup". Since his debut in the GT arena in 2018, Rio has achieved great results in major GT events at home and abroad such as GTSC and Spa 24 Hours Endurance Race, and won the 2022 GT Short Course Series Annual Driver Championship and the 2024 Spa 24 Hours Endurance Race Pro-Am category runner-up.

Hong Kong professional driver Tong Weifeng has participated in many high-level events such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours, GT World Challenge European Endurance Cup, and Asian Le Mans Series. He has won the annual championship in the Silver category of the GT World Challenge Asia Cup as the official Asian driver of the Audi Sport Department. This year, he will once again challenge for the annual honor!

At present, the two drivers have arrived at the track in advance and started pre-race preparations with the team. In the two official paid practice sessions on Thursday, Uno Racing Team made positive progress in its pre-race preparations.

The GTWC Asia Malaysia Sepang opening race will have official practice and qualifying preliminaries on Friday, two qualifying sessions and the first round of the race on Saturday, and the second round of the race on Sunday. Stay tuned.
