Rennfahrer-Übersicht
Tony Longhurst, born on October 1, 1957, is an Australian racing icon with a career spanning over two decades in the Australian Touring Car Championship and V8 Supercars Championship. Before transitioning to motorsport, Longhurst was also a champion water skier, holding the Australian water ski speed record at 201 km/h at the age of 18.
Longhurst's motorsport achievements include two Bathurst 1000 victories, one in 1988 with Tomas Mezera in a Ford Sierra RS500 and another in 2001 with Mark Skaife in a Holden Commodore. This makes him one of only five drivers to have won Bathurst in both a Ford and a Holden. He also secured five AMSCAR Series titles between 1986 and 1991 and clinched the Australian Super Touring Car Championship in 1994. In 2009, he added a Bathurst 12 Hour race win to his impressive resume, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.
Longhurst's versatility is evident in his success with different manufacturers, including BMWs, Fords, and Holdens. He achieved a career-best third place in the ATCC standings in both 1991 and 1992. Beyond driving, Longhurst also ran his own V8 Supercar team before selling the license to Stone Brothers Racing in 2000. Since retiring from full-time racing in 2002, Longhurst has made occasional appearances, including a class win in the 2018 Bathurst 12 Hour in a BMW M4 GT4. Today, he is also known for his work with The Boat Works on the Gold Coast.
