FIA World Endurance Championship Overview

The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), established in 2012, is the premier global series for endurance sports car racing. Sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and organized by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO), the WEC features a diverse grid of prototypes and grand tourer (GT) cars competing in races that range from six hours to the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The championship is divided into two primary classes:

  • Hypercar: This top-tier category includes cutting-edge prototype vehicles from renowned manufacturers such as Toyota, Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot, and Cadillac.

  • LMGT3: Introduced in 2024, this class features GT3-spec cars from manufacturers like Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Lexus, McLaren, and Porsche.

The 2025 season comprises eight rounds held across four continents, beginning with the Qatar 1812km at the Losail International Circuit on February 28. Notably, the start time for this race has been adjusted to 2 p.m. local time to coincide with the onset of Ramadan.
