European Le Mans Series Overview
The European Le Mans Series (ELMS) is a premier European endurance racing championship organized by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO). Established in 2001, the series draws inspiration from the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans, challenging teams and drivers to compete in multi-hour races across renowned European circuits. The ELMS features a diverse range of classes, including Le Mans Prototypes (LMP2 and LMP3) and grand tourer-style racing cars in the LMGT3 category, providing a platform for both professional and amateur drivers to showcase their skills in high-performance machinery. Each season comprises six events held at prestigious venues such as Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Circuit Paul Ricard, Imola Circuit, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Silverstone Circuit, and Algarve International Circuit, with four-hour endurance races testing the speed, strategy, and reliability of participating teams. Success in the ELMS is highly coveted, as team champions and runners-up earn automatic invitations to the following year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, offering a pathway to one of motorsport's most esteemed events.
