Alex Macdowall

Alex MacDowall, born on January 22, 1991, is a British racing driver with a diverse career spanning touring cars and GT endurance racing. Starting his racing journey at the age of 14 in the UK-based T-Car Championship, he quickly transitioned to the Renault UK Clio Cup, where he showcased his talent by securing four wins and ultimately finishing as Vice-Champion in 2009. His impressive performance in the Clio Cup caught the attention of British Touring Car Championship teams, leading to his graduation into the BTCC in 2010 with the Silverline Chevrolet team.

In 2012, MacDowall ventured into the international racing scene, joining the FIA World Touring Car Championship with bamboo-engineering. His time in the WTCC proved successful, highlighted by becoming the Vice-Champion in the Independents Trophy in 2013, with five victories, including a memorable win at the Guia street circuit in Macau. Transitioning to GT endurance racing in 2014 as a factory driver for Aston Martin Racing, he competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours.

More recently, MacDowall has been a prominent figure in GT World Challenge Europe. In 2020, driving a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo for Barwell Motorsport, he secured the Silver Cup title. After a stint with Aston Martin in 2021, he rejoined Barwell Motorsport and Lamborghini in 2022, competing in the Gold Cup class of the GT World Challenge Europe. Throughout his career, Alex has accumulated experience with various teams and cars, including Audi R8 LMS GT3 and Porsche 911 GT3R, demonstrating his adaptability and skill across different racing platforms.
