Sascha Maassen

Sascha Maassen, born on September 28, 1969, in Aachen, Germany, is a highly accomplished racing driver with a career spanning several decades. Maassen began his racing journey in karts before transitioning to Formula Ford 1600 in 1989. He progressed through the ranks, competing in German Formula 3, where he secured a prestigious victory at the Macau Grand Prix in 1994. From 1995 to 1997, he showcased his talents in touring cars, driving for Nissan in the Super Tourenwagen Cup.

In 1998, Maassen transitioned to sports car racing, joining Roock Racing in the FIA GT Championship, piloting a Porsche 911 GT2. His affinity for Porsche grew stronger, leading him to become a factory driver in 2000. He achieved significant success in the American Le Mans Series, partnering with Bob Wollek and later Lucas Luhr, securing multiple race wins, including the Petit Le Mans. Maassen's endurance racing prowess is highlighted by his two class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (2003, 2004) and four class victories at the 12 Hours of Sebring (2001-2004). He also claimed the ALMS GT class championship twice (2002, 2003) and the FIA GT NGT class title in 2004.

Beyond his driving achievements, Maassen contributed to the development of the Porsche RS Spyder, later coaching young drivers as part of the Porsche Junior program. His career includes wins in GT cars and prototypes. He is considered a Porsche expert.
