Tauras Tunyla

Tauras Tunyla, born on August 8, 1993, is a Lithuanian racing driver with a diverse motorsport background. Tunyla's journey in racing began at the tender age of five, guided by his father, Gintaras Tunyla, who built him a kart. Lacking substantial resources, the father-son duo honed their skills by modifying an old Soviet-era kart, instilling in Tauras a deep understanding of vehicle mechanics. This early dedication paid off, as Tauras secured the vice-champion title in Lithuania in 2000 and went on to become a five-time Lithuanian champion in karting.

In 2008, Tunyla joined a professional karting team and ventured into international racing. However, a disagreement between his father and the team leader led to an abrupt end to this promising venture. After a four-year hiatus, Tunyla returned to motorsport in 2013, partnering with a PR manager and securing sponsorship. He built a racing car and participated in the Autoplius Fast Lap race, impressively finishing in the Top 3 with a Mazda Miata against higher-powered competitors.

Beyond driving, Tunyla is also known for his work as a motorsport photographer and filmmaker under the TAT Designs brand. His clients have included prominent Lithuanian racers and international brands. In addition, he is the CEO of Dream2Drive, a driver development program designed to offer guidance and technologies to help promising racers climb the motorsport ladder. In 2023, Tunyla participated in a "Drift vs Grip" event, swapping his Hyundai i30N TCR touring car for a 700bhp V8-powered drift car, showcasing his versatility behind the wheel.
