Li Haitao is a well-known racing driver. In 2006, he partnered with Richie Ren and won the honorary title of "Star Team" awarded by the China Avant-garde Sports Association, and was able to officially participate in the China Police Motorcycle Rally. In 2012, he played the role of Huang Zhong in the racing-themed Hong Kong police and gangster movie "The Driver" directed by Zheng Baorui and starring Shawn Yue, Guo Xiaodong, and Anthony Wong. The gangster temperament he showed in the film was recognized by some audiences. However, on April 16, 2018, the Songbei District Court of Harbin City heard the case in which the Songbei District People's Procuratorate accused the defendant Li Haitao of dangerous driving; on August 22, 2022, the Hailun Court opened a hearing on the case of the plaintiff Li Haitao suing the defendant Li Zhiqiang and others for motor vehicle traffic accident liability disputes.
