Conrad Grunewald

Conrad Grunewald, born on April 21, 1979, is an American racing driver with a diverse background spanning multiple racing disciplines. Hailing from Houston, Texas, Grunewald's career began in road racing, where he achieved early success, winning the 2002 Skip Barber Midwest Championship. He further honed his skills in Grand Am Cup and Rolex GT racing before transitioning to the world of professional drifting.

Grunewald is perhaps best known for his involvement in Formula DRIFT, where he has been a consistent competitor since the series' inception in 2004. In 2009, he established Conrad Grunewald Racing. He gained notoriety for piloting the Technosquare-built Tanaka Racing Z06 C5 Corvette drift car. A significant moment in his career came in 2010 when he embarked on an ambitious project to build a competitive Formula DRIFT car out of a Chevrolet Camaro. With support from GM and Hankook Tires, Grunewald transformed the Camaro into a formidable machine, showcasing American muscle in a sport often dominated by imports.

Beyond drifting, Grunewald has also participated in various GT racing series, including the International GT Open, European Le Mans Series, and GT World Challenge America. He achieved 3rd in GT Open 2023 and 2nd in GTWC N.America in 2021. Throughout his career, Grunewald has demonstrated versatility and adaptability, making him a respected figure in the racing community.
