Racing Driver Andre Couto

André Couto, born on December 14, 1976, is a Macanese racing driver originally from Lisbon, Portugal. Couto's career began in karting in Macau, influenced by the Macau Grand Prix. His early success led him to European Formula Opel Lotus in 1995, where he won a race at Estoril. That same year marked his debut at the Macau Grand Prix Formula Three event, where he briefly led.

Couto is best known for winning the prestigious Macau F3 Grand Prix in 2000, a historic moment as the first Macanese driver to achieve this feat. He followed this with stints in Formula Nippon and the World Series by Nissan. From 2005, he became a regular in the Super GT Championship, initially in the GT500 class with Lexus, and later achieving significant success in the GT300 class. In 2015, driving a Nissan GT-R GT3, he won the Super GT GT300 title, dedicating the victory to his late son. This victory marked him as the first foreign driver to win the GT300 drivers' championship.

Throughout his career, Couto has participated in various racing categories, including the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) and the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). More recently, in 2024, Couto won the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia (LSTA) in the Pro-Am category with teammate Jason Chen. He continues to be a respected and accomplished figure in the world of motorsport.
