Sepang 1000KM Endurance Race Overview
The Sepang 1000KM Endurance Race (S1K), inaugurated in 2009, is an annual endurance event held at Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit. Covering a distance of 1,000 kilometers, approximately 172 laps, the race typically spans around nine hours. It serves as a successor to the Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race, focusing on touring cars with engine capacities up to 1,800cc. The competition is divided into two classes: Class 1 for cars between 1,601cc and 1,800cc, and Class 2 for those up to 1,600cc. Over the years, the S1K has attracted participants from neighboring countries, including Australia and Japan, enhancing its international appeal. Notably, manufacturers like Proton and Honda have achieved multiple victories, with Proton securing six wins to date. The 2024 edition took place from November 22 to 24 at the Sepang International Circuit.
