View all calendarsPrototype Cup Germany Overview
The Prototype Cup Germany is a premier racing series for Le Mans Prototype (LMP3) vehicles, organized by the German automobile club ADAC and the Dutch promoter Creventic. Established in 2022, the series has quickly become a significant platform for both emerging and seasoned drivers in prototype racing.
LMP3 cars, introduced by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) in 2015, serve as the entry-level category in the Le Mans Prototype hierarchy. These vehicles are powered by standardized Nissan V8 engines producing approximately 455 horsepower and are equipped with chassis from manufacturers like Adess, Duqueine, Ginetta, and Ligier. Michelin is the exclusive tire partner for the series.
The 2024 season, marking the third installment of the Prototype Cup Germany, featured six events across renowned circuits in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The season commenced at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium from April 19 to 21, aligning with the 24H Series. Subsequent races included the Lausitzring (May 24–26) and the Nürburgring (August 16–18), both as part of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) events, and the Circuit Zandvoort (July 12–14) during the Summer Trophy. The season concluded with a debut at the Sachsenring from September 6 to 8, also within the DTM framework.
A highlight of the 2024 season was the championship victory of Markus Pommer and Valentino Catalano, who secured the title with consistent performances throughout the year. Their success underscores the competitive nature of the series and the opportunities it provides for driver development within prototype racing.
Looking ahead, the 2025 season is set to continue the momentum, featuring events at iconic tracks such as the Hockenheimring, Nürburgring, and a return to Spa-Francorchamps. The series remains committed to utilizing the Nissan VK56 V8 engines, distinguishing it as the sole championship in Europe where second-generation LMP3 cars are actively raced.
