Marc Hennerici, born on May 10, 1982, in Mayen, Germany, is a professional auto racing driver with a diverse career spanning various racing disciplines. He is most notably recognized as the inaugural winner of the World Touring Car Championship's (WTCC) Independents Trophy in 2005.
Hennerici's early career involved competing in Formula BMW from 1999 to 2001. In 2003, he showcased his talent by winning the Alfa Romeo 147 Cup in Germany. The following year, he participated in the DMSB Produktionswagen Meisterschaft, driving a BMW 320i for Wiechers-Sport, ultimately securing fourth place. His collaboration with Wiechers-Sport continued into 2005 as they transitioned to the World Touring Car Championship. Despite not earning any points in the main championship, Hennerici's consistent performance allowed him to clinch the Independents Trophy, surpassing rival Tom Coronel.
Beyond WTCC, Hennerici has demonstrated his versatility in other racing series. In 2006, he finished fifth in the VLN series and has been a frequent competitor in the challenging 24 Hours of Nürburgring race. More recently, he has been actively involved in the ADAC GT Masters, further expanding his experience in GT racing. His career stats show 28 wins, 68 podiums and 10 pole positions out of 238 races started.
