James Moffat

James Moffat, born on June 18, 1984, is an accomplished Australian racing driver with a diverse career spanning several racing categories. The son of touring car legend Allan Moffat, James has carved his own path in motorsport, demonstrating skill and determination. While his father was initially hesitant about his racing aspirations, James proved his commitment and talent through hard work and perseverance.

Moffat's career began at the club level before progressing to national competitions, including the Lotus Trophy and V8 Utes. He later transitioned to the Australian Formula Ford Championship and Porsche Carrera Cup, showcasing his adaptability across different racing disciplines. In 2009, he entered the Dunlop Super2 Series, finishing as runner-up and earning the Mike Kable Young Gun Award, recognizing him as a promising young talent in Supercars. He made his Supercars debut in 2010 as an endurance co-driver.

Moffat secured a full-time Supercars opportunity with Dick Johnson Racing in 2011, followed by stints with Nissan Motorsport and Garry Rogers Motorsport. In 2013, he achieved his first Supercars race win at Winton while driving a Nissan Altima. Since 2018, Moffat has focused on endurance racing, joining Tickford Racing as a co-driver and achieving notable results, including a second-place finish at the 2021 Bathurst 1000 and a third-place finish in 2022. More recently, Moffat has also competed in the Trans Am Series, demonstrating his versatility and passion for racing. In 2023, he won the Trico Trans Am Series Championship, and in 2025 will return to the category with Garry Rogers Motorsport.
