Ron Atapattu

Ron Atapattu is an American racing driver with a unique background, blending motorsports with a passion for elephant conservation. Born in Sri Lanka and raised in the UK, Atapattu's racing career began professionally in June 1996, making him the only U.S. driver in a Lamborghini Diablo SVR at a race prior to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He continued in the Stephane Ratel Organization (SRO) Lamborghini Super Sport Series for five years as the only American entry. In 1997, he achieved his first victory in a McLaren F1 GTR at Zhuhai, China, in the FIA GT Championship. He has raced Diablo SVRs at renowned international circuits, securing podiums and top-five finishes. He participated in two 24 Hours of Daytona races with IMSA, and other Florida races.

Atapattu returned to professional racing in 2019 in the IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Series with his eTeaRacing team. This venture promotes his premium tea company, elephantea, and raises awareness for elephant conservation, particularly for the Sri Lankan elephants. He partners with US Racetronics. His racing efforts are deeply connected to his heritage and commitment to preserving Sri Lanka's natural beauty and wildlife. He is also the Founder and President of Overseas Cargo, Inc.

In 2023, Atapattu, with co-driver Kevin Madsen, secured a win in the Am class at a Super Trofeo race at Laguna Seca. A long time Lamborghini driver, Atapattu's racing career blends his passion for motorsports with his dedication to environmental causes.
