S-FJ - Super FJ Motegi Series

The Super FJ Motegi Series is a regional championship within the Super FJ (S-FJ) single-seater racing category in Japan. Established in 2007 as the successor to the FJ1600 class, Super FJ serves as a vitalfirst step for drivers aspiring to climb the ladder of professional formula racing in the country. The series is regulatedby the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) and supported by the Japan Scholarship System (JSS). It is recognized asthe entry point to the Japanese formula racing pyramid, which can lead to higher categories such as F4, Super Formula,and even Formula One. The Super FJ cars are designed to be cost-effective yetprovide a genuine formula racing experience. They feature a steel space-frame chassis, a Honda L15A 1.5-liter engine, and, notably, front and rear wings, which introduce drivers to the principles of aerodynamics.The Motegi Series takes place at the Mobility Resort Motegi, a world-class racing facility. This regional championship allows up-and-coming drivers to hone their racecraft and compete for aprestigious local title before potentially moving on to national-level competitions. Many prominent Japanese racing drivers, including Yuki Tsunoda, havecompeted in and graduated from the Super FJ category, underscoring its significance in developing future motorsport talent.
