Naoki Yamamoto

Naoki Yamamoto, born on July 11, 1988, is a highly accomplished Japanese racing driver. Known for his versatility and skill, Yamamoto has achieved significant success in both Super Formula and Super GT, establishing himself as a prominent figure in Japanese motorsport. Yamamoto began karting at a young age and progressed through the ranks, eventually graduating from the Suzuka Circuit Racing School Formula.

Yamamoto is a three-time Super Formula champion, securing titles in 2013, 2018 and 2020. He has also claimed two GT500 class championships in Super GT, in 2018 and 2020. Notably, he is the only driver to have won both the Super Formula and GT500 championships in the same season multiple times, a testament to his exceptional talent and adaptability. In 2018, he achieved the remarkable feat of winning both championships, solidifying his reputation as a top-tier driver. He repeated the accomplishment in 2020.

Throughout his career, Yamamoto has been associated with Honda, representing the manufacturer in various racing series. He has driven for prominent teams such as Team Kunimitsu and Dandelion Racing, showcasing his ability to perform at the highest level. Yamamoto announced his retirement from Super Formula at the end of 2024, marking the end of an era in the series.
