Mathias Lauda, born on January 30, 1981, is an Austrian racing driver, son of the legendary three-time Formula One World Champion Niki Lauda. Unlike many drivers who begin their racing careers in karting, Mathias started relatively late, making his debut in 2002 in Formula Nissan 2000. He also participated in German Formula VW and Spanish Formula Three events. In 2003, he moved to the World Series Lights with the Vergani team, followed by the Euro Formula 3000 Series in 2004. Later in 2004, he competed in Formula 3000, finishing 13th overall. In 2005, he participated in the newly-christened GP2 Series, securing a single points finish in Monaco. He also represented A1 Team Austria in the A1 Grand Prix series.
From 2006, Lauda shifted his focus to touring cars, joining the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) with Persson Motorsport. After an initial scoreless season, he moved to Mücke Motorsport in 2007, earning points and finishing 15th. After his DTM involvement, Lauda transitioned to the Porsche Supercup and made appearances in GT racing.
Mathias Lauda is notable for winning the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship for Aston Martin Racing in the LMGTE Am category. As a factory driver for Aston Martin Racing, Lauda has achieved significant success in the FIA World Endurance Championship, with 13 wins and the 2017 Endurance Trophy for LMGTE Am Drivers.
