Lucas Auer, born on September 11, 1994, is an Austrian racing driver with a strong pedigree in motorsport. As the nephew of former Formula 1 driver Gerhard Berger, Auer's career began in karting, where he demonstrated considerable talent by winning two titles in the German karting championship. His success continued as he transitioned to single-seater racing, securing the runner-up spot in the 2012 ATS Formula 3 Cup and a commendable second place in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in 2014.
Auer has been a prominent figure in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) since 2015, initially competing for Mercedes-AMG Motorsport. He has participated in nearly 140 DTM races, achieving nine victories, including four behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG GT3. In 2022, he finished as the runner-up in the DTM series. Beyond DTM, Auer has showcased his versatility in various international championships, including the GT World Challenge Europe, where he and Maro Engel secured both the Sprint Cup and overall drivers' titles in 2024.
In addition to his GT World Challenge Europe success, Auer's achievements include a Pro-AM victory in the GT World Challenge Asia in 2024 and participation in the FIA GT World Cup in Macau. He also secured third place in the Toyota Racing Series New Zealand in 2013.
