Kush Maini, born on September 22, 2000, is a rising Indian racing driver currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with DAMS Lucas Oil. As of March 2025, he also serves as a reserve driver for Alpine in Formula One and Mahindra in Formula E, marking a significant step in his burgeoning career. Maini's journey through the ranks of motorsport began in karting before transitioning to single-seaters in 2016, participating in the Italian F4 Championship.
Since then, the Bangalore native has gained experience in various racing series, including the Formula Renault Eurocup, FIA World Endurance Championship, and BRDC British Formula 3 Championship. Notably, he finished second in the 2020 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship and secured third in the same series in 2018. In 2024, Maini achieved his first Formula 2 victory in the Budapest Sprint Race with Invicta Racing.
Kush is the younger brother of fellow racing driver Arjun Maini, who has competed in GP3 and Formula 2. Maini is also mentored by two-time Formula One champion Mika Häkkinen. Known for his aggressive driving style, Maini aims to learn as much as possible in his reserve driver roles, contributing to team development through simulator work and trackside support. He considers representing Mahindra, an Indian brand, a "massive deal" and is excited to support their push for greater success in Formula E.
