Austin Krainz is an American racing driver currently competing in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge - Grand Sport with Auto Technic Racing. Born and raised with a passion for motorsports, Krainz has quickly made a name for himself in the competitive world of sports car racing.
Krainz's journey to professional racing is a story of perseverance. Diagnosed with juvenile dermatomyositis (JM) at a young age, he battled the rare disease for over a decade. With the support of his family and pioneering treatment, he entered remission and pursued his childhood dream of racing. He started racing professionally two years ago, inspired by his father's participation in club racing. The father-son duo now races together in the AM/AM class in GT4 America, run by SRO Motorsports.
In 2023, Krainz achieved a significant milestone with a P2 finish at Sebring International Raceway in a GT America event. This accomplishment fueled his ambition to continue racing with his father and pursue opportunities in IMSA, potentially in the Carrera Cup. Krainz is also involved with CURE JM, using his racing platform to raise awareness and offer inspiration to families affected by the disease. In March 2025, he secured a fourth-place finish in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Sebring.
