Yuji Tachikawa

Yuji Tachikawa, born on July 5, 1975, is a retired Japanese racing driver and team executive. Tachikawa competed in Super GT from 1996 to 2023 and in Formula Nippon between 1997 and 2009. A longtime Toyota factory driver, he primarily competed for the Cerumo team throughout his career. He is celebrated as a three-time Super GT champion in the GT500 class, securing titles in 2001 (when it was known as the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship), 2005, and 2013.

Tachikawa's career stats include a record of 24 pole positions and accumulated 1,245.5 points in Super GT. He also boasts 19 wins and 47 podium finishes. Before his success in GT racing, Tachikawa began his racing journey in karts and then ventured to France to compete in the Formula Renault Campus Cup. Upon returning to Japan, he won the Formula Toyota West Japan Championship in 1995 and finished as runner-up in the All-Japan Formula Three series in 1997. In 2008, he participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing 11th in the LMP2 class.

Beyond driving, Tachikawa has also made significant contributions as a team director for Cerumo/INGING in Super Formula, leading the team to multiple championships. He briefly served as both driver and team director for Cerumo in SUPER GT. Tachikawa's final race was at the end of the 2023 season.
