Max Chilton

Max Chilton, born Maximilian Alexander Chilton on April 21, 1991, is a British racing driver with a diverse career spanning Formula One, IndyCar, and the World Endurance Championship. Hailing from Reigate, Surrey, Chilton began his racing journey in go-karts at the age of 10, quickly progressing through the ranks of Formula 3 and GP2. His talent and determination earned him a spot in Formula One with the Marussia team in 2013. Notably, he achieved the distinction of finishing every race in his rookie season, a rare feat in the demanding world of F1.

After two seasons in Formula One, Chilton transitioned to IndyCar in 2016, joining Chip Ganassi Racing and later Carlin. He showcased his abilities on the American racing scene, even leading a significant portion of the 2017 Indianapolis 500 before ultimately finishing fourth. His versatility led him to the World Endurance Championship, including participation in the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours.

Beyond circuit racing, Chilton demonstrated his skill in hill climbs, setting a new record at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June 2022 while driving the electric McMurtry active-downforce car. This achievement highlights his adaptability and willingness to embrace new challenges in the world of motorsport. Max's older brother Tom Chilton is also a racing driver, competing in the World Touring Car Championship.
