Racing Driver Shane Smollen

Shane Smollen is a highly accomplished Australian racing driver with a career spanning various motorsport categories. Born on January 15, 1964, Smollen began his racing journey relatively late in life, at the age of 41, but quickly progressed through the ranks. He secured the Australian GT Challenge title and Rookie of the Year award in 2010. Smollen then transitioned to the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, where he has competed in over 200 races, achieving numerous class and outright race victories.

Smollen's notable achievements include winning the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup Pro-Am Championship and the 2010 Australian GT Challenge Championship. In 2021, he secured an outright victory at the Bathurst 6 Hour race alongside Shane van Gisbergen. In 2023, Smollen joined the Monochrome GT4 Australia series, driving a Porsche Cayman 718 GT4, and emerged as the series winner. Throughout his career, Smollen has demonstrated versatility, competing in events such as the NSW Combined Touring and Production Sports, the Australian Saloon Car Championship, and the Bathurst 12 Hour.

In 2024, Smollen joined Method Motorsport, bringing with him the latest Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. He currently leads the Pro-Am Cup standings in the Monochrome GT4 Australia Series, partnered with Lachlan Mineeff.
