Racing Driver Nick Halstead Overview

Nicholas John "Nick" Halstead, born on April 9, 1972, in Kent, United Kingdom, is a British racing driver, software engineer, and entrepreneur currently competing in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) for Team Bristol Street Motors. A relative latecomer to racing, Halstead made his competitive debut in 2017 in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge. He quickly demonstrated his talent by securing third place in the Am category in his first year and winning the Am title in his second season in 2018.

Building on his early success, Halstead became a regular in the BTCC support package, participating in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup. His debut season in the Supercup was notable, achieving 16 podiums, including five race victories. In 2020, he stepped up to the British GT Championship in the GT4 Pro/Am class, finishing the season as Vice Champion. Halstead made his BTCC debut in 2021 at Croft, filling in for Rick Parfitt Jr. He embarked on his first full BTCC season in 2023 with Bristol Street Motors with EXCELR8, achieving a best result of seventh place at Donington Park. In 2024, he continued with Team Bristol Street Motors, aiming to build on his experience and points finishes from the previous year.

Halstead's career also includes participation in various other series, such as TCR UK, the Renault Clio Cup UK, and the Britcar Endurance Championship. Outside of racing, his interests include Crazy Carts, a fan engagement activity he helped develop within the BTCC. His favorite circuit is Brands Hatch GP, and he admires Nigel Mansell. Halstead's ambition is to win the British GT title, showcasing his determination and passion for motorsport.
